Peggy Drain My Best Friend February 7, 2012
I first heard about Carol Carroll, the girl with the double name, forty-five years ago  when my future husband, Ron, related this bizarre tale about the whirlwind marriage of Carol and his best buddy Tom.  Granted, the newlyweds had been sweethearts for seven years, but who pulls off a wedding in less than a week?

Eventually these neighborhood chums, Tom & Ron, coerced Carol into being my friend.  Luckily, we bonded right away.  What's not to like about Carol & her extended family?  I admit I was envious of her close relationship with her sister Vicki/Verita.  They were inseparable.

Now Carol loved to entertain, so many parties, so many showers, so many innovative games.  She even co-founded the everlasting Bunco group and was an officer in Jr. Peorians.  Carol made a ton of friends at her work places as well.

Wasn't Carol the greatest cook?  She never skimped on real whip cream, real potatoes, or real butter.  There wasn't a single recipe Carol couldn't improve.

Carol and Tom raised a lovely, talented, gracious daughter, Molly.  I can't figure out why Molly doesn't seem spoiled, because Carol sure tried.  Carol was a gifted shopper, able to load the lower luggage compartment of a charter bus with her purchases alone.

Carol's devotion spilled over when precious Charlotte was born to Molly and Chris.  At that time Carol became Grandmother  Extraordinary.  Her overwhelming joy could not be rivaled.

I think we all know what a strong person Carol was and how hard she fought a terrible disease.  I loved Carol Carroll, and I know you did, too.
